Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Event Details & Call to Action
The 2026 Ottawa Climate March is happening on Saturday, September 19, 2026. We gather at 9:30 AM at Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau before marching to downtown Ottawa, holding rallies at key locations along the way to make our voices heard.

Why We Are Marching ?
While the rest of the world advances on climate action, Canada is falling behind—recently ranking 21st out of 22 Western countries on the Global Performance Index. The federal government has canceled, delayed, or watered down key policies, including consumer and industrial carbon pricing, EV mandates, methane regulations, emissions caps, and clean electricity rules. At the same time, billions in taxpayer funds are slated for export pipelines and gas-powered AI data centers through BDC.
Why Protesting Works Now ?
Protests are most effective when a movement has leverage over those in power. A summer of record fires, severe smoke, and extreme weather has deepened public concern and caused voters across Canada to rethink their support for the government. This momentum gives us real leverage, reflected in our core call to action: Stop the Burning. Defend Our Climate.
Schedule:
- Meeting point Gatineau @ 9:30am, South side of Jacques Cartier Park, Gatineau
- Meeting point Ottawa @ 10:30am, Mackenzie Avenue, above York Steps
- End point Ottawa City Hall @ 12:00pm, Lisgar Street
Our Demands:
- End Fossil Fuel Subsidies: The federal government must stop funding fossil fuel infrastructure. Public dollars should not be building infrastructure while Big Oil sits on the sidelines raking in record war-driven profits.
- Stop Climate Backsliding: Enforce laws already passed by Parliament, such as the Clean Electricity Regulations.
- Honor the Climate Emergency: Align policies with the urgent emission reduction targets required by Parliament’s climate emergency declaration.
- Respect the Courts: Uphold Supreme Court rulings regarding climate action.
- Accelerate Local Action: As Ottawa approaches a municipal election, the City must speed up the implementation of its local climate plan, Energy Evolution.
